1. Opening Doors to Volunteers with Disabilities â FREE Workshop, 11/13/08
Do you find it difficult to find volunteers? Learn how and where to find them during a FREE workshop titled âOpening Doors to Volunteers With Disabilities.â You can learn how to engage volunteers who are waiting to be asked to help â volunteers who have disabilities. You also can develop your skills in interacting with volunteers who have a wide range of abilities.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Chesapeake Room, 2664 Riva Road, Second Floor, Heritage Center, in Annapolis. It is presented by the Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County, in partnership with the Anne Arundel Commission on DisABILITY Issues, the Arundel House of Hope, and Bello Machre. Enjoy light refreshments at this informative event. 2. Volunteer Project Nominations Needed by Nov. 3rd
The Fifth Annual Volunteer Project Hall of Fame Awards will be sponsored by the Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County and the Coordinators of Volunteers of Anne Arundel County on Thursday, November 20, 2008 in Annapolis.
The Hall of Fame will honor volunteer projects that have had the most impact in Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis. Nominations are invited for volunteer projects sponsored by local nonprofit or faith-based organizations, local businesses, governmental agencies and other groups.
Join us at 11:30 am on November 20th at Phillips Annapolis Harbor Restaurant, 12 Dock Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 to celebrate the successful volunteer projects that have impacted our community and made a difference in our lives.
A nomination form is attached. Nominations must be completed and received by the Volunteer Center no later than November 3, 2008. You can also download nomination forms at www.VolunteerAnneArundel.org or contact Bill Crabbs at bill@volunteerannearundel.org or 410-897-9207.
3. Last Chance - Submit
Your Holiday Volunteer Opportunities and Donations Requests
Agencies still have the
opportunity to get their submissions into the Volunteer Centerâs Holiday
Volunteer Guide for Fall and Winter holiday volunteer opportunities and
donations requests. These will be compiled into a Holiday Volunteer Guide to be
distributed throughout the community and posted for free downloading on our
website.
To submit an opportunity or donations request, send your information to Bill Crabbs at bill@volunteerannearundel.org Holiday opportunities are those that occur between November 10 and January 9, and they must be submitted by November 9th.
